Artist Christophe Jannin (articles - blog - profile - website) sends in some updates as he plans for his upcoming exhibition in Lyon (France) which will be taking place at 'Le Station B' from July 25th thru August 15th (flyer).
From Christophe: "Winter is here in New Zealand, bloody freezing, stormy, rainy, haily. I am now counting the days before I leave to go to France for the holidays. Taking off on Tuesday night and landing in Paris on Wednesday 8 in the evening. About 22 hours flying, roughly a 30 hours trip with the stop in Singapore.
I have just finished my latest drawing entitled 'The Rite of Spring' (full image). A drawing full of optimism and very pastoral, the format is in the 'Italian way', meaning horizontal which is very unusual for me since I prefer a vertical format. In fact, physically it's two drawings, composed as a diptych but reunited with the colour version".

It's high time you familiarize yourself with the excellent art work drawn by the French Bear artist Christophe Jannin (website - blog - TubeBear profile - PlanetBears articles). Now I know I mention the fact that Chris is as cute as his artwork, the simple fact is that it's true.
Christophe sends in his newest artwork. From Chris: "I have just finished 'Gilles de Rais arriving in Orleans' (click here to see the full version). Gille de Rais is flamboyant here. He was a real historic character, marshal of France and a Joan of Arc companion with whom he liberated the city of Orleans during the 100 years war against the English in he first half of the 15th century. You might know him under his nickname 'Blue Beard'. He was condamned and hanged for the crimes of felony, murder and sodomy. Yes he was gay!
As for my upcoming schedule, I have 2 upcoming exhibitions in France, one in Lyon from July 25th thru August 15th at the StationB, and the one one in Orleans at the cinema "Les Carmes" from September 23rd until October 12th for the Gay and Lesbian Films Festival. The title of this is called ' From Auckland, Bears, at the end of the world...".

Seeing is believing, and you have to take a look at Christophe's newest piece of Bear artwork entitled The Four Elements (hi-res ~ lo-res). It's actually 4 pieces in one with a different Bearish guy representing one of the 4 elements (fire, water, air and earth).
My fave is air - maybe because I'm a Libra and air is my element. However, they are all excellently detailed and Christophe's work is almost Bear perfect... oh... and Christophe himself is almost Bear perfect - just check out his TubeBear profile to see a pic of this handsome Frenchman turned New Zealander. Also visit his site and read up on his latest adventures by visiting his blog page (in French).

Urge Bar in New Zealand. The show opened on November 14th. Christophe has been doing Bear drawings for years then he took a break, but the fire to do Bear art came back in 2006 and he has been on fire ever since with the great work he has been producing.

Sometimes it's very hard for me to choose which I find more impressive - Christophe Jannin's artwork or his good looks. He's an excellent artist who has been rediscovering his love to draw Bearish artwork, and the guy is as cute as the images he draws. I know I've said that before but it definitely needs repeating.
He is a French artist living in New Zealand and to learn more about him, check out his recently redesigned website as well as his blog (which is in French) and he also has a TubeBear profile.
He has finished a new drawing entitled Maui who is a Maori God. Click here to see the full version and here to see a closer view of Maui himself, and click here to see a nice shot of this handsome drawer.
Also, check out this blog called Bear's Paws ~ Patte D'Ours - an English/French site which focuses mainly on Bear artists. There is an interview with Christophe in French altho most articles of the other articles are translated.

His name is Don, he's in New Zealand and he likes to doodle when he's bored at work... I just have to say that if this is called doodling, I'd fall off my seat if I saw what he is capable of doing if he actually applied himself. Sarcasm aside, you have to check out his page called Dchooi Doodles and see this talented man's work for yourself - there's just oodles of Bear drawing goodness in his gallery section. Then make sure to make your way over to his download page and pick up a wallpaper or the 2007 calendar even if it is August (and it's definitely worth the download - his Bearsworth theme is excellent). There is also his 2006 calendar for those who are going to want to have everything this artist has ever done. And if you want to keep up to date, then join his Yahoo! group. He's made me a fan.

It's just around the corner - Southern HiBearNation, an event hosted by the VicBears of Melbourne, Australia. Around the corner...? Yup, this upcoming week (yup, a full week) from June 18th thru to the 24th.
From their site: "Southern HiBearnation is the largest Bear event in the Southern Hemisphere, over 500 Bears attend the week, culminating in the Mr. Australasia Bear Contest 2007, which sees bear contestants from all over Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific and South-east Asia compete for the National Title of Mr. Australasia Bear 2007".
ps... just look at the committee... I'm weakening at the knees. And go here to check out their galleries.

Awhile back I spoke about a very kind soul by the name of PapaWereBear (website) who has a serious knack for writing wonderful stories of men who 'literally' become Bears - half-man and half-beast, with muscles beyond imagination, and fangs and a sexual need dangerous to mention. Well our kind author has sent us a great new story he has written along with his friend UrsusMajr entitled Becoming the Bear. It's a full 99 pages so this is sure to keep you up for a few nights.
Oh, and that great artwork of the Pan Bear is done and Don Chooi, and as PapaWereBear says, he's a "damned nice Bear in New Zealand". Click here to see the full image.

Usually I see an artist's work before I actually see the artist (kind of like hearing a song on the radio first then seeing what the band looks like after). In this case, when I saw Christophe Jannin's Bearwww profile, something inside me made these kinds of sounds - grrz - wooferz - heavius pantius. Once my insides stopped swooning, I then checked out Chris' webpage to find out he's an incredibly talented artists who has done some very good Bear drawings (among other things). He also makes websites. Take a good look around his site to get to know him a bit better and if your French is up to par, then check out his blog as well.
