The event is being coordinated by the handsome Robert Valin (website - email). The Bear Café in New York City (Yahoo!Groups) "is a place where you can sit down, kick back, talk and make friends with woofy guys of all ages, races, types and interests. We're an alcohol / noise / attitude-free space. Bring and play cards and board games. We have low, eclectic, but pleasing music - now all in a 2000 square foot space.

The Bear Café is not-for-profit and volunteer-operated. Currently all Bear Café events are cancelled through December 31st. The organization is currently in a transitional phase. We hope to resume a new schedule of events sometime in the new year".

Pinups is a magazine created by Christopher Schulz in NYC and it was first published in April '07. It now has 7 issues. It is a quarterly periodical that features one or two male nude models. From their site, they say that "there are no words - just an exaggeration of the classic centerfold. The magazine exists in book form but can be taken apart and then tiled together to reveal a life-size image". What's super great about this mag is the models are quite Bearish and Cubbish.

Pinups will be at the NY Art Book Fair today - from October 24th right thru until the 26th.

What is up with the husky and extremely cute Canadian stand-up comic Richard Ryder (website - Myspace page - YouTube page - TubeBear profile)...? After his exposure on Last Comic Standing, he won a contest at a classic rock station Q107 as 'Funniest Person with a Day Job' and as one of the prizes he received a spot in the legendary Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. While in NYC, he worked at another few clubs like Stand Up New York and HA! Richard was also invited to be a part of Accent On Toronto, an annual comedy showcase put on by CBC Radio. He was asked to perform at his 1st Bear run in Buffalo with the Buffalo Bears. He stated that 'it was a lot of fun and they completely wore me out'.

This year, he plans to audition for Last Comic Standing again and he will be at the Michigan Gay & Lesbian Comedy Festival on March 8th.

Keep an eye out for more details and updates on his site - he also plans on giving a page a new look for 2008. As he states - he's a 'Stand-up Comedian... Supermodel... Bear'.

TubeBearz Featured Profile ~ BearNYC69 Share, RSS
Saturday, August 4, 2007

Altho TubeBear is still a very young site, we're seeing some seriously mature and good looking Bearish men signing up and making profiles. And not too long ago, we decided that it would be a very good idea to feature some of these men. This is our 2nd time featuring a Bear and this time it's the handsome and husky David who goes by the nick BearNYC69.

Actually David and did a photo shoot with me (me being Forrest ~ profile) a few years back when he came to Montreal and all I can say is David is more than a handful, has a Brooklyn accent with the personality to go with it, and had me laughing while continually surprising me with what he said the whole time we were together. He also had this knack of attracting a crowd whenever we went out, especially the evening we went downtown and he was dressed like a leather cop. Check out his TubeBear profile to see a few of his pics and head on over to his gallery sections in PlanetBears' galleries to see around 800 more photos of him, all in 1600x1200 hi-res.

David is witty, strong willed and has a character the size of New York City. Make sure to email him or leave him a little message in his guestbook. He has a weakness for the Daddy Bearish type.

ButchBear - Tap Out Share, RSS
Thursday, June 7, 2007

There's new pics to be seen over at ButchBear.com as their newest featured model is Ross Taylor who epitomizes fur, tan, muscles and Daddy. And you can also see Ross Taylor in Butch Bear's latest DVD Tap Out (full cover image here). Here's a description they sent in: "Based on the wrestling entertainment industry, masculine muscle mayhem rules as the men of Muscle Wrestling Entertainment (MWE) thrill a crowd of horny, cigar-smoking tough customers who cheer for these modern-day gladiators in no-holds-barred matches. 'Tap Out' to survive and submit to the aggressive sexual will of the winner. Tap in to the behind-the- scenes, crusty, hard-body action of the MWE, as a shady promoter takes and gets what he deserves".

There are also planning release parties for 'Tap Out' around the country in major cities beginning at the Eagle in June 30th in Los Angeles, CA. Other release parties will happen in NYC, San Francisco, Fort Lauderdale, Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle and Provincetown throughout the summer.

First off, I'm really bad when it comes to the Pic of the Day. It's more like Pic of the Week but hey, I'm trying.

Ok today's Pic of the Day is of George from NYC. He emailed me to tell me that he'll be in my area soon because he's attending Sugar Bear Weekend (Montreal, QC, Canada ~ March 29th thru April 1st), and that he wants to get together for a photo shoot. So here's hoping we'll hook up.

Check out George's homepage... oh... he's 6'5''... guess I need to brush up on my 'Sir' calling.

Hey look it's Bluto... or Brutus... actually, it's Big Lug and it's a Bear bar in New York City, New York. This bar makes me actually just want to go to New York right now so I could just hang out in it, it sounds so cool.

From their site: "In the spring of 2004, 2 friends had an idea to start a new Bear party that catered to the local hairy, stocky guy scene. The concept behind the night was simple: create a relax laid-back atmosphere with great music and cheap beer for men to meet and relax - now in its 3rd year. In October 2006, Big Lug had the opportunity to move into its own full time space - creating a new stronghold in the East Village for the expanding Bear scene".
