Time to check out some music by the talented and seriously cute Michael West who is also the co-producer of
Bearapalooza. Head on over to his MySpace
page where you can listen to a few of his tracks, see some photos of the handsome musician, and learn more about him in his bio. Here's a little bit from his MySpace page "
With strong vocal performances, diverse songwriting ability, and universal appeal easily identify Michael West as a serious talent. His high-octane style uses no formula at all. Instead he offers a blend of abilities, styles and enthusiasms uniquely adapted to himself, on stage. He is an artist who creates a unique musical blend of melodic pop with a rich mixture of classic blues, rock and roll, and soul. Michael West is currently living in Nashville, TN and he is working on his new release titled 'Choice' which will be released on Woobie Bear Music".

Awhile back, I posted a couple of articles about the Bear Music Awards website. The 1st article was simply announcing it, and the 2nd article was more or less questioning its validity. Since these postings, I have received a bit more info.
The idea behind Bear Music Awards belongs to Ken Renales, a music producer who runs Cubbyhole Records (article); an independent recording label which lists quite a few artists actually, one of them being Ken Renales, aka Uncle Buzzy.
Orlando Santiago (website - articles - TubeBear profile), is a musician and he was nominated for an award. They initially contacted him however he never saw his name added to the Bear Music Awards site nor was there any follow-up whatsoever, only that the voting had been closed. From Orlando "I think this has been a great idea but poorly executed... just like any beginner he must be overwhelm in all the little things that a show like this must have. I encourage anybody that wants to help our community, so any way we must sponsor this type of activity and this is a learning experience that someone will have and maybe next year they will create a better show".
The winners will be announced at Nashville's Hall of Fame Lounge in Nashville, TN on October 20th. You can buy your tickets from their site. And a little note - in the last article, I mentioned that their MySpace was no longer available - Orlando Santiago pointed out that they in fact moved their MySpace page to here.

From the Bears on the Run site: "Over the last few years, outlets like Bear Radio Network, Bearapalooza and Woobie Bear Music, along with a host of supportive Bear runs, bars and podcasts, have given Bear musicians, songwriters and performers a place to share their talents. This fall, 6 performers will head out in a van for the 1st ever Bear tour which will span 12 cities and 7 states including Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri and Oklahoma.
The tour is called Bears on the Run and showcases the talents of Bobaloo (a comedian from Los Angeles, CA - TubeBear profile), Kendall (a songwriter and performance artist from Buffalo, NY), Matthew Temple (a folk singer/songwriter from Nashville, TN), Nakia (a Blues singer/songwriter from Austin, TX), Elijah Black (a rock singer and songwriter from Akron, OH) and Shannon Grady (a singer and songwriter from Minneapolis, MN). Along for the ride will be two videographers who will capture performances as well as life backstage and on the road to be edited into a documentary.
The tour's founder Shannon Grady (a singer and co-host of the popular podcast bTALK) hopes that the tour will grow and open up doors for other Bear artists and find new audiences for their work".

This is not the Brady Bear Bunch - altho imagine what the show would have been like with these 6 talented good looking men... instead this team makes up a new ensemble of talent known as the 'Bears on the Run'. Their site is still in the making however this much I can tell you: this team is comprised of 6 artists (4 musicians, 1 performance artist and 1 comedian), and come this October, they will be traveling to Dallas, Austin, Houston, New Orleans, Atlanta, Nashville, Lexington, Columbus, Cleveland, Chicago and St. Louis. Phew... that's one hell of a road trip. They are also seeking out sponsors so if you have a Bear friendly business and would be interested in sponsoring, then read this page to find out how you can become a sponsor.
Now to the important part - the good looking men who make up 'Bears on the Run'. To learn more about each of them, then click on that link above (or click here)... however here is a quick run down of the players who make up this band. There's Bobaloo (website), there's Shannon Grady (website), there is Matthew Temple (website), then there is Nakia (website), there is Elijah Black (loud rockin' website), and then the final hunk is Kendall (website). I will post more about Bears on the Run when I get word, but for now just double check that list of cities they will be playing and if you're in the vicinity of any of them... well... prepare to get yourself a ticket or 6 for you and your friends because this is one show you really should not miss.
