Last year, about this time, the social network Ning informed all of their groups which were adult in nature that they have X amount of time to gather their stuff and pack their bags. And that was that.
Quickly: Ning is an online platform that has been competing with the likes of MySpace and Facebook. Pretty simple in nature: create a specialized groups (ex: knitters who wear motorcycle boots), then hope people sign up. Once they do, they create a profile, add photos, videos, blogs, etc.. Before they got Ning'ed (articles), these adult groups were flourishing, gathering tons of subscribers. Then Ning decided to cut ties with everything adult-ish and they were ordered to disassemble.
Unfortunately, most of these adult groups had no place to go. The Ning platform provided everything they needed. Most groups just vanished, while some, like ChubSpot, remain 'temporarily closed'. Others, like Guyzingear, became paysites, yet some, incredibly, like BearZone, were able to gather their belongings, moved on, and created their own platform.
The reason I write this article is because I've gotten quite a few people asking me what happened to ChubSpot. To be honest, I don't know. Their main page hasn't changed since they closed down, and I don't know if they will be able to re-open, yet if there is a change, I'll definitely mention it here in the news.

Singer and songwriter Tom Fort (website - MySpace - YouTube - articles - TubeBear) has come out with a hot new video. If you thought disco was dead, well Tom Fort is here to revive that disco biznitch, and wow Tom looks frikkin' hot in his leather shirt - my only comment is that we need more of Tom and less of the guys in skirts. The song is a remake of an old disco tune called Shoot your Shot - an 80's hit by Divine. Great video, tons of fun... and next time, more of Tom!

I've got friends in all the right places
I know what they want
and I know they don't want me to stay
I'm not sure exactly what the lyrics all mean but I'm hooked on this new song by a band called Manchester Orchestra (website - MySpace), with lead vocalist Andy Hull crooning these guys into what I hope for them is potential stardom.
The song I'm referring to is called I've Got Friends and it's from their latest album 'Mean Everything to Nothing'. Take a look at these guys on David Letterman (YouTube) and on Jimmy Fallon (YouTube).
As a side note - my partner Roger finds the song a little heavy for his likings. I just seem to find myself bopping my head like their keyboardist.
And another side note - Andy Hull is married, yet there is something just kinda neat and cool about him, and I love the scraggly beard. He is like a Bearish version of Kurt Cobain.

"I know... I know... I live the life of a sinner...". Those are lyrics from an excellent song called 'Sinner' (Video - MP3). The artist is known as Big B - he's the one who does the rapping. I first heard the song on the radio, liked it, checked out the artist and I was like - well, well, well, he's all about white trash, no shirt, big belly, tons of tattoos. He's a ton fun so here are some links with videos and photos of the Big B - website - MySpace - videos.

The other day I mentioned about the GayVN Awards (website - article) which is "the most respected and recognized awards in gay adult entertainment history". Well I did not know what kind of 'award' categories they have, but now I do, and one of them is the 'Best Cum Shot'. Guess who is up for nomination...? It's none other than the cute muscle Cub Mike Dreyden (blog - MySpace - articles - profile) and the porn in which this cum shot can be found is House of Leather.

There's really not all that much info about Unit-911, neither on his MySpace page nor on YouTube page, but his video Give it to Me is just so utterly muscle Bear campy, it's something you should watch, just to see the chorus woof at ya. Unit-911 reminds me a bit of a leather version of BearForce1 (website - articles)... kinda... Unit-911 is more machismo, BearForce1 is more... gay, I would say. Thanks to Perdido's Wooflog for the link to this guy. Woof...!

A 'Merry This...' and a 'Happy That...' is what Canadian comedian and actor Richard Ryder (website - articles - profile) wishes us for '09. Keep up to date with Richard by subscribing to his YouTube channel or making him your friend from his MySpace page. As well, Richard is the new Sunday host at 103.9 Proud FM, the world's first gay, commercial radio station (his profile there is Big Dick Ryder). Yes a Richard can be a Dick too (I am no comedian, I know).

The Good, The Bad, and The Chubby... 1st off I have no clue what Popa Chubby's sexual orientation is, and when I don't know, I always assume 'straight'... however I just thought I would mention this guy because he's got a seriously cool name ~ 'Popa Chubby'. He's kind of like a Satanic hillbilly who sings country music or something to that nature. You decide: visit his website, his MySpace page and here's a couple of YouTube videos of him (video #1 - video #2).

On the main page of UrsusMag.com, it reads "It's Over", meaning they are no longer running their site... however... they point us over to UrsusWeb.com, and once we go there, it brings us to 'another' Ning site.
What UrsusMag (articles) used to be (before it expired) was a profile site for Bears: create a profile - add photos - add a description, etc. We all know what a profile site is, but they decided to no longer work on their own design and went over to Ning.
You don't know what Ning is...? Well from Wiki (here) "Ning is an online platform for users to create their own social websites and social networks". So what does that mean...? Well say you like buttons and you want to have a website which will connect people who digs buttons... rather than making your own site, you use the 'Ning' platform and everything is preset for you... all you have to do is wait for the people to sign up; essentially, Ning gives you the tools to make a profile page.
That's fine and dandy, however there are more and more people who are making Ning sites, it's almost becoming out of hand. There are at least a dozen Bear Ning sites, one for Chubs that I know of and several for Leather. And each time you want to join that Ning site, you have to make a new profile (altho you can use the same user/pw).
Again, from Wiki, Ning "Ning hopes to compete with large social sites like MySpace and Facebook, by appealing to users who want to create networks around specific interests or have limited technical skills"... In my opinion, Ning is a good idea, however once there are 100 Bear Ning sites and you have to create a profile for each one and add pics to all of them and remember which buddy belongs to what group, then these Ning sites become a chore.

His name is Mike Dreyden (photo) and he's one hot muscle Bear Cub from Brooklyn, New York. Tight 'n hairy in all the right places. Mike has a super fun blog page which he has been updating regularly, and he has a MySpace page as well. He states that his own website will be going live by the holidays so make sure to keep an eye out for that.
He is a dancer, performer, a go-go BearBoy for the band Nekked who perform, and he is also becoming an international porn star with roles in movies like House of Leather (by Bear Omnimedia - cover - articles) and All Out Assault (by Knight Stick Films). I just read on his blog that his reign as King Stink of the pits is coming to an end soon and that he'll be passing his crown to the next winner... that's gotta be something to see... I know a lot of guys really dig pits so try and make it to Uncle Ming's in NYC if you can.

Ever since that redneck show 'Blue Collar TV' with 'Larry the Cable Guy', it seems that people have embraced their inner-redneck. Before, calling someone a redneck was somewhat impolitically incorrect, even an insult, but now people want to be known as a redneck.
Take Steve McGranahan, for example. Every time he introduces himself, he says "hi, I'm Steve McGranahan and I'm the world's strongest redneck". He probably is... especially when he likes to twist horseshoes into pretzels, bend iron rods without breaking a sweat, and he enjoys biting phone books and decks of cards (seems he also has the strongest teeth for a redneck).
Need to see more of this truly loveable character? Then check out his website for some pics and videos, then his MySpace page, which has even more photos of him.

Loren Macias of The Butchdick Collection stated he had taken a small break from painting for awhile but he's gotten the itch once again. The thumbnail pictured you see is his latest entitled 'Rear XX'. He also informed me that he's been dabbling in oil paints... oh... and he just turned 40. Make sure to check out his website as well as his MySpace page (you need to be added to his friend's list to see his page, but at least you can have a peek at what this cute artist looks like).
