Here's some news from the Russian front. Here's what's been happening in the wonderful creative world of Alexei Biryukoff (website - articles - profile). From Alexei: "2008 was a very busy and productive year for me. I was working mainly on the music and sound projects with 2 collaborations with other musicians as well as making a soundtrack for the 3D animation film 'Tamara and Demon'. I actually got flooded with the sound art proposals, which is exciting!
However the major event of the year was that I finally visited the USA (after previously being rejected twice by the embassy). I was sponsored by the art organization CEC ArtsLink in New York, and spent 5 week in the artist residency at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, MA. This resulted in a solo show at their local gallery. I travelled around Massachusetts and across the country to see California. Everywhere I went I was lucky to have beautiful weather and met lots of nice amazing people and made a few new friends.
Finally, I have updated my website with the new works I did during the year and 16 of them were painted in the States. Check them out here".

First off - congratulations to Bob & Mark (photo) for getting married. Actually, there have been a lot of same sex couples that I know of that have been getting married, ever since California and Connecticut have permitted gay couples to get married (Massachusetts has allowed it for some time now, since 2004).
So Bob & Mark went to Los Angeles and tied the knot. You can read all about it on Mark's LJ page 360 Sound. To see more of Bob, check out his profile BearBob1952, and make sure to send them a congrats email.

The Provincetown Bears are having their Bear week starting on the luckiest day ever - July 7th 2007 (7/7/7) and it will be running right thru until the 14th. All this will be taking place in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Check out their site for all the details and here for their galleries. Pre-registration is closed however, as they mention on their website, "it is still possible to attend most of the events on the schedule by paying a cover at the door".

Out of Hibernation - which takes place in Provincetown, MA from March 16th thru the 18th - is what they call the un-run. From their site: "no buying a package, no being a member of anything, we really mean just show up! P'town will be full of gay Bears & fellas who like Bears, we look forward to your joining us and joining in all the fun!
We're now putting together Out of Hibernation and are seeking your events!
Do you have a hobby, a special area of knowledge, something you would be willing to share with other fellas? Willing to lead a hike, teach a short class on photography or cooking, strum a few chords, looking to meet up with other fellas into wine or science fiction or whatever?".
