It wasn't too long ago that LOGO aired a documentary called Bear Run the Movie, directed by Dan Hunt. Unfortunately I don't get LOGO so I wasn't able to see it, however if you missed it as well, you can purchase the DVD for $29.95 from their site. It's well worth it since all I've been hearing are praises from all those who saw it. And in other news, Dan Hunt (pic #1 - pic #2) was interviewed in the latest issue of BEEF Mag (website - article - cover).

If you didn't catch the premiere of Bear Run The Movie (article) on LOGO, you can still catch the reprise today (August 4th) and again on August 24th... or... even better... pick up your own DVD copy of this documentary that was directed by Dan Hunt.

All is fair in war and advertising, yet it seems the guys who run BearTrapping.com are in a league all of their own.
It started back around June of 2007 when they sent out their 1st advertising ploy which consisted of taking a couple of images of Bill and Andy of BigMuscleBears.com while they were in drag. This is what they wrote (ad here): "Some Bear sites are run by girly guys who think it's okay to wear girly hats, or paint their toenails with girly paint or dress in girly clothes. Is that the sort of Bear site you want to belong to? Or are you looking for a real men? If real men are what you want, come to BearTrapping".
Scott McGillivray, the editor and co-owner of 100% Beef Magazine (TubeBear profile) wrote back an email telling them essentially that they are fighting a losing battle and "because a gay man is comfortable enough in his masculinity to 'camp it up' for a charitable cause (such as toenail painting at Lazy Bear Weekend, or wearing a pink fur vest at a San Francisco Pride Fundraiser) doesn't make him effeminate or 'girly'..."
Well, BearTrapping wrote back: "You just cannot fathom how incorrect you are. For every one of you fluffy fags that defend those two child endangering losers, we get 200 to join our REAL Bear site. Why? Because outside of GayLoserTown USA, (aka San Francisco), the rest of the gay world regrets you flaming queens even exist. Your bring the curve down for the rest of the community, and are the root cause of why we don't have equal rights".
Since then, BearTrapping has been getting mentioned in journals and blogs, and award winning Blog Joe.My.God pointed out in his June 20th article that BearTrapping is run by "Ironclad Media, which has been the subject of numerous consumer complaints including credit card fraud. Check out the complaints thread on Ripoff Report for details, it's all rather unbelievable".
Nevertheless, BearTrapping has continued their advertising attacks, their most recent one being "Are You a Bear or a Pansy" - saying that by joining their site you're a real man but joining the likes of BigMuscleBears and BearWWW, you are joining "out of date listing of stale profiles" (ad here).
Not sure where this is all headed yet I'm sure this is far from over. The beauty about the Bear culture has always been its high level of inclusivity; pretty much everyone can self-claim themselves as a Bear. Yet this openness seems to have also created holes within the system which has allowed everyone and their brother to come in and self-claim their Bear-hood while bashing all those who don't fit their image of what a Bear is.
The question is - can everyone be a Bear...?

Lynn Ludwig, aka ShutterBear, has updated his website with some new event pictures from Lazy Bear Weekend. There's 16 pages of Lynn's signature photos of cute guys 'lazying' about the pool. View the photos here.
Lynn mentions why he has not been going to other events and taking pictures for the past 2 years in his news section. From his site: "so the 'upswing' of the past year is simply that I haven't suffered any new assaults on my body. But the accumulated wear and tear has left me permanently weakened, it would appear. My stamina for travel or extended activity remains limited so I can no longer commit to any given event. Since Lazy Bear is local, I can attend, but even then for only a few hours total. Thankfully, I had some house guests for the weekend, who provided a nice balance lazing on the deck". Visit Lynn's other webpage as well.

DJ Ted Eiel is as sexy as the music he spins. As it states on his website, he has a love for "funky, chunky, meaty, masculine basslines and melodic hooks". He has played coast to coast in the States and even in Europe, with his upcoming gig will have him spinning at the Lazy Bear Weekend which starts August 1st.

BearFighter is back!
News from BearFighter ~ website ~ is that after ½ year of preparations for new ideas, new photos, new tshirts and sweatshirts, he is back with a whole new look with a newly designed site. It's dark yet colourful with some newly released photos, all of them now listed under specific themes such as Bears, Real Brutes, Warriors etc. Also check out his list of exhibitions and events in which BearFighter will be taking part of, and click on his bio to find out just a little bit more about this talented man. Up and Coming is that BearFighter will be at Lazy Bear Weekend which is happening next week in Guerneville, CA and he will be displaying his work at the 'Inn of the Willows' and 'The West Sonoma Inn' on August 1st and 2nd. There will also be a silent auction.
Truly, BearFighter has some of the best Bearish photos out there... they exemplify on print what a Bearish men should be all about - strength and beauty, men filled with intensity ~ however... a true man never uses his force, he only exhibits it.

Lazy Bear Weekend is actually a week long event which takes place at Guerneville, CA from August 1st thru the 6th (looks like a nice place from the Wiki page). I have never been but from the pics I have seen from this event over the years, it's just wall to wall fur, muscles, Bears in really tight shorts, swimming, sunglasses, tans, sigh... drinking, dancing by the pool. It's a week of relaxation with a lot of good looking men all around.
