BearFilms have sent us some pics from their most recent photo shoot. The model's name is Scott Jordan from Las Vegas, Nevada. He's 34, 6' tall and weighs 220 lbs with black hair and hazel eyes. From Scott: "I have been told that I'm good at sucking cock and that I've got a sweet, tight ass. I love to be watched and especially like having my nipples played with". Can you tell me what you're looking at...? That's the very 1st cover of the very first BEAR magazine (full cover) which was published back in '87. Were you ever curious as to what those early BEAR rags looked like? Well you'll soon be able to see all the back issues online. Bear Fund is working right now on posting the complete archives ~ issues #1 thru #64. All the proceeds will benefit the Bear community through the Bear Fund and the Bears of San Francisco.

A little Bearish history lesson: Richard Bulger and Chris Nelson started the mag back in '87 as a photo-copied flyer. As the magazine grew in popularity, they decided to 'inc' it and they formed Brush Creek Media (archived website) as well as grab the brand name 'BEAR' as a registered trademark.

In '94, they sold the company to BearDog Hoffman who at decided to expand Brush Creek into several 'special-interest' mags (such as 'International Leatherman', 'Hombres Latinos', 'Foreskin Quarterly' to name a few). However, by '00 the company was having financial issues and by '02, BearDog had run the company into the ground. This forced Brush Creek to go bankrupt.

For years the brand name 'BEAR' was actually up for grabs, and either nobody knew about it or nobody actually cared. It wasn't until '06 when Butch Media Ltd of Las Vegas, a creditor's of Brush Creek, decided to go court and they were judicially assigned the name BEAR. Since then, Butch Media has formed Bear Omnimedia and has already published their very 1st BEAR Magazine ~ issue #65, with issue #66 slated for the winter '09 (website - interview - profile).

Once they acquired the BEAR name, they also acquired all the back issues (1 thru 64) as well as the videos. After speaking with the guys at Bear Omnimedia, they told me that they might put up a pay section for guys to view the back issues and whatever proceeds they make from doing this, it will to be benefit charitable groups.

So there's your Bear history lesson for today. Keep an eye out on the Bear Fund website, and we'll be sure to let you know here at PlanetBears when you can start perusing them very 1st BEAR issues... 'cause it's real important to know where your Bear roots come from, and what better way than to look at naked photos of Bearish men (some sources from Wikipedia's article on BEAR Magazine).

As they mention on their site, Woobie Bear Music is 'Music by Bears - Music for Bears'. There's videos to check, photos to see, and a ton of great musical artists to listen to. The site is run and maintained by Greg Hudson ~ who just happens to be a seriously handsomely cute Bear - check out his profile on TubeBear.

Greg also sent in some news regarding new CDs. From Greg: "Woobie Bear Music has produced a unique Cd series called Bear Tracks. Right now we have 4 Bear tracks released and also other GLBT music:
'G CD Global 1'; 'Triple Play' featuring music from 3 artists, Spekrfreks, Decoding Jesus, Storybox; Kendall's 'Rekindled', and; Freddy Freeman's  'Break the Silence'.

The official release date for Triple Play is July 7th - that's  07-07-07. The release party is at the Ramrod club in Las Vegas with live performances by the SpekrFreks.
Decoding Jesus will also be there but not performing. 07-07-07 is the worlds luckiest day to be in vegas.

Luck is what the undertone of the CD is all about. Info about that is in the CD insert. Inside the insert is a hidden message, the first person to decode the message will win $1,000. New clues for what to look for will be posted  monthly on our main website beginning in July.

There's a new CD called 'Triple Play' being released on July 7th 2007 - that's 07/07/07 - 'the world's luckiest day' as the guys over at the WoobieStore put it ~ a site in adjunction with Woobie Bear Music. Check out some of the samples. There is also a CD party in Vegas on that date with a live show from SpekrFreks. Also, there's a hidden message within the insert of the CD and the 1st person to decode the message will win $1000.

In Bear world ~ may it be online or off ~ the look varies magnificently. I mean: what happens when you mix muscle with meat...? Well, you get the type of men presented to you by the Las Vegas based ButchBear.com. Incredibly sculpted men, truly admirable ~ a webpage in which the fine ingredients include something like: dashes of fur, dabs of facial hair, pinches of tattoos, teaspoons of bulking muscle and... the main meal ~ Bears. The Desert Brotherhood Motorcycle Club are gearing up for their upcoming Smokeout. As they mention on their site, the event is "a fun-filled, uncomplicated weekend in Las Vegas, NV for Cigar Studs, Pipe Studs, Bikers, Leathermen, Bears and friends". All of this will be happening from April 5th thru the 8th.
