I've got friends in all the right places
I know what they want
and I know they don't want me to stay

I'm not sure exactly what the lyrics all mean but I'm hooked on this new song by a band called Manchester Orchestra (website - MySpace), with lead vocalist Andy Hull crooning these guys into what I hope for them is potential stardom.

The song I'm referring to is called I've Got Friends and it's from their latest album 'Mean Everything to Nothing'. Take a look at these guys on David Letterman (YouTube) and on Jimmy Fallon (YouTube).

As a side note - my partner Roger finds the song a little heavy for his likings. I just seem to find myself bopping my head like their keyboardist.

And another side note - Andy Hull is married, yet there is something just kinda neat and cool about him, and I love the scraggly beard. He is like a Bearish version of Kurt Cobain.

Look who's on the cover of the most recent A Bear's Life magazine? It's the well known director Kevin Smith. What's even more fun is that Kevin Smith spoke about the magazine on the Late Show with David Letterman - see it here. A couple of weeks ago, Kevin Smith was on David Letterman talking about his new book as well as being on the cover of A Bear's Life magazine (articles here and here). If you want to see the interview, head on over to BearCosmos - their article and the video is here.

From their site: "Echoing his recent comments in print, filmmaker Kevin Smith appeared on David Letterman earlier this week to promote his new book 'My Boring Ass Life' and wound up discussing his appearance on the cover of gay magazine A Bear's Life. Smith explains to David what a 'Bear' is and how he came to be on the cover of a publication catering to them (um... they asked him), and concludes by celebrating the fact that anyone would sexualize him in any way.

Smith's casual "hey, I don't care who thinks I'm hot!" attitude is both unsurprising for the famously easygoing filmmaker and a refreshing change from straight male celebs who for some reason feel that being found attractive by another man is the worst thing in the world that could happen".

Did you guys watch David Letterman last night, with guest Kevin Smith? Smith was on the show and he spoke about the Bear community as well as A Bear's Life, a magazine in which he will be on the cover for the holiday season. I didn't get to see the show because I am up north where we have no TV (I am on dialup as well). Although I haven't watched TV in ages, I would have liked to seen that show.

As an FYI, Nard (TubeBear profile) from BearPodCast posted a special episode with Stevo Harris (shown) of A Bear's Life Magazine. They spoke about the interview that Stevo had with Kevin which lead to promoting the magazine on David Letterman.
