Jacques, aka PandaMontreal (galleries - profile) sent in this portrait of him that the cartoonist Bruin drew. I think this is the first portrait done by Bruin (altho I could be mistaken). The resemblance is uncanny, don't you think...? Actually, I think it's the cutest thing since sticky honey on a chest full of fur.
This gives me the opportunity to remind everyone that today being Monday is also the day that Bruin (profile - articles) updates his Bear With Me series. Andy's mom and son relationship is looking seriously rocky. Make sure to tune in.

In the past little while, Andy's eyes have been glaring all kinds of colours as he's been confronting his mother about her recent doings - namely - having Andy's boyfriend Paul break up their relationship and then leave town. Andy and his mom have been rattling the skeletons in the closet as they talk about a very touchy issue - dad. Make sure to keep up to date with Bruin's 'Bear With Me' cartoon every Monday (

Things are getting really heavy for Paul, ever since he left Andy to go back home to his family. Looks like he's drowning in the meanness that is surrounding him.
From Bruin (profile) the artist of Bear With Me: "Remember the indignities of high school, the first time someone shouted, 'Faggot!' as they drove past? Bad enough when they came from classmates; imagine poor Paul enduring them from his own family! It's all beginning to wear on the big guy, and one wonders how long he can hang on. Fear not, faithful readers. Help is on the way! Andy is mounting a rescue mission even as I write. Stay tuned. The fur will fly".

The following is from Bruin (articles - profile), cartoonist of Bear With Me: "Ever been in one of those situations where you work your butt off on a project, only to have someone else get all the credit? Seems like Paul's in one of those set-ups with his family. It's not that Paul isn't doing anything, but rather he's not doing the 'right' things to garner his father's attention and approval. Lucky Karl; as the family Jock, he gets all the acclaim, while Paul, relegated to household duties, gets diddly. How much of this abuse will Paul endure before he snaps? Is Andy going to mount a rescue, and if so, when? Stay tuned to the answers to these and other questions in upcoming episodes of Bear With Me".

Cartoonist Bruin (articles - profile) is back from the GALA that was in Miami, and he told me that his chorus Perfect Harmony rocked. He is now back and has updated Bear With Me, and we're now following the adventures of Paul.
From Bruin: "Paul is back home with his brother and father, but the welcome is a mixed bag: He's immediately slugged on the shoulder by his brother, and gets a less-than-supportive reaction from his father when asked about his flower shop. It's becoming clear why Paul has self-esteem issues".

Monday signifies Bear With Me updates, and in this episode, with Mo's help, Andy has pinpointed where Paul is, however Andy needs to understand why Paul has left, so he chats with Mo a little, asking her if his social status could be the reason why Paul left ('am I a snob', he asks her). Mo says definitely not... and with a little deduction, Andy realizes why Paul has left.
From Bruin (profile - articles), the cartoonist: "As Andy and Mo mull over the reasons Paul left, the penny finally drops, and Andy comes up with a name. It seems he's on the right track, but what will come of it? I have the feeling things are going to get very interesting".
In other news, Bruin will be participating in the GALA choral festival in Miami from July 12th thru the 17th.

So what's been going on over in the Bear With Me world? Andy seems to have recuperated at 100% however after getting the 'Dear John' letter from Paul, he was seriously down in the dumps. However, watch Andy as his 'Bearifies' himself in this issue... I believe this is the 1st time we actually see one of the characters morph from human to Bear... and now that he's 'Bearified' himself (I like the word), he's off to find Paul. Stay tuned.
'Bear With Me' is a cartoon drawn by artist Bruin (TubeBear profile - articles). Bruin has been recently interviewed by the Bearotic (profile) site - see the interview here.

The last time we visited Bear With Me: Andy was being brought to the hospital because he fainted; his mother Constance had a talk with Andy's boyfriend, Paul, telling Paul he's not good enough for his son; Paul had a breakdown due to the fact, threw his cellphone out the window, got in his van and left. As we catch up: Andy fainted due to his blood pressure dropping and he's fine; Constance finds out that Paul has left, and; Andy's secretary, Mo, is having a darn old time trying to contact Paul. So that's where we are. This week, looks like Andy got a 'Dear John letter'. We're just going to have to wait until next Monday to find out what's going to happen next.

There's a couple of Bear-Toon updates here. 1st - over at Becoming Blizzard... finally Blizzard has decided to come out to his new friend Bob. Bob just happened to be gay, cute, and has his eye on Blizzard. Things are looking up for Blizzard. And who's the cartoonist who draws Becoming Blizzard? It's Rondall (TubeBear profile).
Ok so things are looking great on Becoming Blizzard's end, however things are definitely not looking good over at Bear With Me. Andy is in the hospital, his boyfriend Paul has left town and has thrown his cell out the window. To backtrack a touch - Andy's mom had a little conference with Paul, and what she said traumatized Paul... meanwhile something happened to Andy at the exact same time that Constance was ripping into Paul. Hey, it's a cartoon... anything can happen, however cartoonist Bruin (TubeBear profile) has informed me that he has never gotten so much email than he has now about what's going on in the Bear With Me world. He has definitely struck a nerve with his readers.
And lastly, Bruin has sent in this drawing - he said to pass it on so that's what I'm doing. I think it would make a great desktop image.

All is not well in Bear With Me land. Firstly, Andy has been taken off to the hospital in a stretcher by ambulance. He had an attack and his new assistant Mo did the only thing that made sense. Meanwhile, Paul is packing his stuff, tears in his eyes. It's all kinds of bad that's going on in one of my favourite online Bear cartoons, drawn by Bruin. The good news is that Bruin has added a photo to his TubeBear profile, now you'll be able to see just how cute this silver Daddy is (and I remember way back when Bruin posted some great photos of himself in some Yahoo! groups in which you got to see those great hairy legs of his... wonder if he'll ever post those again.. or post new ones... not that I'm trying to hint to anything here).
PS - just to let you know how much I dig Bear With Me... check out the articles I've posted about this 'toon since I started PlanetBears... and I used to post his stuff back in the bear-pics days as well.

Has it ever happened to you that - something bad is happening to one someone very close to you and you're able to feel it, even though you can be miles and miles away? Well this is what is happening to Andy of Bear With Me. It's best I let cartoonist Bruin (TubeBear profile - articles) explain what's going on (and his explanation relates to this weeks cartoon as well as last weeks strip):
[Concerning last weeks cartoon] "OK... we're done with the cat fights between Mo and Constance, and we've said goodbye to Ralph's mother. It's time we got back to the central relationship everyone wants to know about: Andy and Paul. Andy and Paul were established early last year. We've been treated to glimpses of the romance between the two of them, and we'd be hard-pressed to find a reader who's heart hasn't melted at the sight of the two of them in a heart-felt embrace. Everything looks quite rosy for these two lovebirds... but now, Constance, who has tried every trick in the book to throw a spanner in the works, has set her sights on Paul. What bedevilment is this woman up to? What ploy will she devise to separate our two heroes? Nothing else she has tried has worked; is Paul safe, then?"
[Concerning this weeks strip]: "This week, we see Constance's plan put to action as she shares her concerns with Paul. While she seems to care, we know she's merely using Paul's insecurities against him. Trouble is, it seems to be working. What will Paul do? Will Andy be able to intercede before Paul does something drastic?".

Wow what a surprise this week over at Bear With Me. It was like seeing my little cartoon characters almost come to life.
Best let cartoonist Bruin (TubeBear profile) explain it: "This week, Bruin gets to take a break and posts a piece of art a fan sent him, all the way from Rio de Janeiro. The artist uses the penname of ByM and has his own website showcasing his art. This is the first piece of fan art I've ever received, and I'm pleased to see my characters realized both faithfully, and with a high regard to detail. If other fans of BWM feel so moved, please submit your work via email. If there are enough submissions an 'art annex' to the main Bear With Me site may have to be constructed".

Time to take life a little less seriously for a little while and you can do so by visiting a couple of great cartoons.
The 1st cartoon is Bear With Me drawn by Bruin (TubeBear profile). From Bruin "In this newest episode, Constance is finally allowed to see Andy (Remember Andy? The strip's kinda built around him) and, naturally the first thing she does is complain about how badly Mo treated her. How far do you think Constance will get with this line of attack? Will Mo get fired on her first day on the job? Stay tuned, gentle readers".
The next cartoon strip to check out is Becoming Blizzard by Rondall Carson (TubeBear profile). It seems that Blizzard has finally figured it out... and that is... this real cute Polar Bear is into other male Bears and he has his eye on a certain Bob.

For the past couple of weeks, Bear With Me has moved away from the men in this great cartoon strip drawn by Bruin (TubeBear profile)... and the attention has been focused on a pair of woman - one being the main character's mother and the other is the main character's new assistance...
I mentioned last week that I thought a cat fight was surely to ensue and I'm sure there will at some point, but right now we learn that Mo - the assistant - not only knows about Constance - the mother - but that Mo has meticulously studied her tactics to a tee. Seems like Constance is learning all about Karma.
I'm still waiting for Paul and Andy (the main character) to show up again. I miss their love story they were creating. Makes me think of Luke and Noah from As The World Turns. Have no clue what I'm talking about? Check it out for yourself (Make sure to start at #1). Sure it's soap but it's the 1st gay soap couple and it's actually fun to watch their story evolve.

How to make someone's day... or week... or even better... how to make someone's entire life drawn by cartoonist Bruin (TubeBear profile) of Bear With Me. To understand what I'm talking about, check out the latest strip.
From Bruin: "The current episode features the strips favorite kid sister, Mo, as Andy approaches her with a job offer she can't refuse. Knowing how naturally industrious she is (read: hyperactive), Andy will do well with Mo looking over the day-to-day functions of the Phoenix Center as well as having a personal assistant. What could possibly cast a pall over such an ideal arrangement? Stay tuned. Sparks will fly".

Monday updates over at Bear With Me. The following cartoon synopsis is from artist Bruin (TubeBear profile): "Constance continues her discussion with Father O'Toole in which she reveals that Andy is rather enigmatic to her. It seems she's done everything right, so why hasn't Andy turned out the way she expected? What are the influences in Andy's life that Constance can't anticipate or control?
Like most parents, Constance is asking the wrong question. It's not 'What did I do wrong?', but rather 'Is my child a good person?'. Andy could easily have become an elitist snob like his mother, but is instead directing his fortune and energies to bettering the LGBT community where he lives. The fact that he's found love in the process is an unexpected bonus.
Will Father O'Toole help redirect Constance's focus? Will Constance give up her efforts to break up Andy and Paul? Will monkeys fly out of her butt? Stay tuned, gentle readers!".

Now if you've ever been curious to see a recent picture of cartoonist Bruin (TubeBear profile), creator of Bear With Me, then click here and you'll see him along with a small clan of equally good looking men who make up what is known as the Perfect Harmony Men's Chorus. These 25 gents make up the gay-friendly men's chorus for Madison, the capital of Wisconsin.
PHMC has recently released a CD of their 10th anniversary concert which was held this past summer. On this CD you even get to hear a little solo from Bruin in the arrangement of 'Everything Possible'. Proceeds from the sales of this CD will help finance PHMC's trip to GALA which will be held in Miami in July.

The following is from Bruin (TubeBear
profile), creator of the popular cartoon
Bear With Me: "
Why is it that Constance's plans never work out the way she anticipates? Seems the entire tryst with Ed was her attempt to show, by a kind of parallel example, that Andy and Paul were ill-suited for each other. Now she's learning that there may be additional consequences to her actions. The lesson to all of us: Put a rubber on it every time".
