What would life be without our Bear cartoons...? One does not realize just how much joy these little boxed drawings bring us. We anticipate the next strip and gobble up these frozen frames that are filled with characters we begin to relate with. So for those in need of a bit of Bear Cartoon loving, here's a couple of updates for you.
First let's start with Becoming Blizzard the story about a Polar Bear who's a little unsure about his sexual orientation, yet is seems that Blizzard is beginning to realize what he likes as he meets up with Bob. However things are about to get all that much more interesting with a whole new episode called 'Daddy Dearest'. Cartoonist Rondall Carson informed me that some new characters are going to be introduced, a Daddy and his slave, meanwhile things will be steaming up for Blizzard and Bob.
Next it's time to head on over to Bear With Me, a weekly cartoon drawn by Bruin. It's been a real roller coaster ride for several months now ever since Paul packed his belongings and moved back to his father's place. A fractured skull and a sprained ankle later, Paul is recuperating while Andy is doing his best to keep his emotions under wraps.
PS... thank you guys for making these cartoons for us.

Make sure to check out the latest from the Bear With Me (website - articles) chronicles. From Bruin (profile): "Good news (and ain't it about time?)! Paul has pulled himself away from 'Death's Door' and is safe in Andy's arms. Better news! Since they had to defibrillate him to get his heart started, Paul is shirtless. Furriness abounds. Who wants to nurse a big, furry teddy Bear back to health? Take a number; line forms to the right".

You might need your sunglasses for this week's Bear With Me as things get a little bright. It's best I let cartoonist Bruin (profile) explain it all: "I'm not ashamed to admit it: I cannot get through this current installment without getting choked up. After all the garbage that we've been fed about how 'God hates fags', and that we, as a group are an 'abomination', the idea that we would be welcomed into Heaven is rather overwhelming. At least in my version, Paul's mother will be there to guide him and orient him to the afterlife. I also envision her to be Paul's personal Guardian Angel. While it is a complete invention on my part, I still find it immensely comforting, and is no doubt built on the fact that my own mother died back in '97 - hence, it's emotional impact on me. In the end, this episode is a personal imaging of what I hope will be; not a statement of religious dogma, and certainly not an attempt at of proselyting".

Things are looking a bit up and down over in Bear With Me world. It's best I let Bruin (profile) explain what's going on: "The ambulance has arrived, Paul is on his way to hospital, and none of his injuries appear to be life-threatening. Naturally, there's a catch. If you're in an ambulance and you discover the EMTs are named Oliver and Stanley... leave. Immediately. Nothing good can come of it".

The following is from Bruin (profile), cartoonist for Bear With Me: "There are a lot of ups and downs with this episode. #1 ~ Downer: Paul's brother, Karl, seems to have talked the local police into believing that Andy is responsible for people getting beaten up. #2 ~ Downer: Andy feels so guilty about decking the one guy, he's willing to take the blame. #1 ~ Big UPS: Paul's alive! He wakes up long enough to proclaim Andy's innocence, and fingers Karl as his attacker. #3 ~ Downer: Judging from Andy's expression in the last panel, all this exertion has cost Paul a lot. #2 ~ Up: The irony of Karl's rage over being 'betrayed' by his brother. This ride isn't over yet".

Just when I thought everything was going to be alright now that Andy and his crew had made it on the scene, I forgot that the bashers had time to get to Paul... and from the look on Andy's face and Paul being a bleeding mess, I'm not so sure everything is going to be alright. This just might be a terrible Christmas holiday for all of those at Bear With Me if Paul doesn't pull through.
Please send your concerns and comments to Bruin (profile). He's taken this once 'light' cartoon to much more complex and even 'darker' levels than I ever thought he would have.

It's been a long Hellish road for Andy and Paul, ever since Andy's mom said to Paul that she didn't think he was right for her son. Paul left town to go back home however Paul's father and brother (and company) decided to beat some sense into Paul after finding out he is gay. Finally Andy showed up just in time and with passion began fighting them off, until he realized he's just not a fighter. Enter Ed and Forrest. Read Bear With Me, a weekly cartoon by Bruin (profile).

The following is from Bruin (profile), cartoonist for Bear With Me (website - articles): "Andy lashes out at Paul's attackers, using the very piece of wood Paul had stepped on, as a club. Andy is not a brawler, however, and cares too much for the well-being of others for his passion to last. While he lashes out blindly at the trio, he's first surprised to actually hit something, then appalled that he's possibly hurt someone badly. That's all the opening the others need to jump him.
Will Andy end up as badly beaten as Paul? Did Andy or anyone else call 911? Do other comic characters get treated so badly? Something has got to turn in our boys' favor, soon!".

From cartoonist Bruin (profile) of Bear With Me: "Someone has arrived unexpectedly, which has broken up the beating being given to Paul. It's no surprise as to who it is, but our new arrival has a shock coming when he discovers who has been beaten. Yes, our boys stand up against injustice; they just don't expect it being served to one of their own. The reaction is both expected and severe".

From Bruin (profile), cartoonist of Bear With Me (articles): "Apparently, Paul's recent coming out has not gone over at all well with Mr. Lynde, who is on the phone with Karl suggesting he bring some friends over that evening. The air is becoming thick with foreboding, yet Paul seems oblivious to it. Perhaps he's hoping for some kind of reconciliation with his family. I'm hoping Andy doesn't take too long getting there". Also, 'Bear With Me' is featured on Bearotic. Very hot.

Bruin (profile) is getting some interesting email concerning his Bear With Me cartoon (website - articles). Here's an email from Bob who comments on the most recent strip: "Oh please let Paul wipe the floor (literally) with his shrimpkin 'father' and that genetic cesspool of a brother! You know, just grab them put them face down in a bucket of Pinesol, then start mopping!
...I also can't wait to see how Andy's mom manages to get her 'Lee Press-On Stigmata' on, to create a scene worthy of her".

As we catch up in Bear With Me world ~ one on end, Andy has cut all ties with his mother and has pulled out his stocks from the business which looks like it just might ruin the rich Constance. He has done this because he found out that it was his mother that ran his boyfriend Paul out of town. So now Andy has to go off and find Paul and win his heart back. Meanwhile, Paul has decided that he no longer can deal with his crazy family and prepares to set off on his own.
The story continues to intrigue and this cartoon is one of the very sites I check out every Monday, a toon done by Bruin (articles - profile).

Jacques, aka PandaMontreal (galleries - profile) sent in this portrait of him that the cartoonist Bruin drew. I think this is the first portrait done by Bruin (altho I could be mistaken). The resemblance is uncanny, don't you think...? Actually, I think it's the cutest thing since sticky honey on a chest full of fur.
This gives me the opportunity to remind everyone that today being Monday is also the day that Bruin (profile - articles) updates his Bear With Me series. Andy's mom and son relationship is looking seriously rocky. Make sure to tune in.

In the past little while, Andy's eyes have been glaring all kinds of colours as he's been confronting his mother about her recent doings - namely - having Andy's boyfriend Paul break up their relationship and then leave town. Andy and his mom have been rattling the skeletons in the closet as they talk about a very touchy issue - dad. Make sure to keep up to date with Bruin's 'Bear With Me' cartoon every Monday (

Things are getting really heavy for Paul, ever since he left Andy to go back home to his family. Looks like he's drowning in the meanness that is surrounding him.
From Bruin (profile) the artist of Bear With Me: "Remember the indignities of high school, the first time someone shouted, 'Faggot!' as they drove past? Bad enough when they came from classmates; imagine poor Paul enduring them from his own family! It's all beginning to wear on the big guy, and one wonders how long he can hang on. Fear not, faithful readers. Help is on the way! Andy is mounting a rescue mission even as I write. Stay tuned. The fur will fly".

The following is from Bruin (articles - profile), cartoonist of Bear With Me: "Ever been in one of those situations where you work your butt off on a project, only to have someone else get all the credit? Seems like Paul's in one of those set-ups with his family. It's not that Paul isn't doing anything, but rather he's not doing the 'right' things to garner his father's attention and approval. Lucky Karl; as the family Jock, he gets all the acclaim, while Paul, relegated to household duties, gets diddly. How much of this abuse will Paul endure before he snaps? Is Andy going to mount a rescue, and if so, when? Stay tuned to the answers to these and other questions in upcoming episodes of Bear With Me".

Cartoonist Bruin (articles - profile) is back from the GALA that was in Miami, and he told me that his chorus Perfect Harmony rocked. He is now back and has updated Bear With Me, and we're now following the adventures of Paul.
From Bruin: "Paul is back home with his brother and father, but the welcome is a mixed bag: He's immediately slugged on the shoulder by his brother, and gets a less-than-supportive reaction from his father when asked about his flower shop. It's becoming clear why Paul has self-esteem issues".

Monday signifies Bear With Me updates, and in this episode, with Mo's help, Andy has pinpointed where Paul is, however Andy needs to understand why Paul has left, so he chats with Mo a little, asking her if his social status could be the reason why Paul left ('am I a snob', he asks her). Mo says definitely not... and with a little deduction, Andy realizes why Paul has left.
From Bruin (profile - articles), the cartoonist: "As Andy and Mo mull over the reasons Paul left, the penny finally drops, and Andy comes up with a name. It seems he's on the right track, but what will come of it? I have the feeling things are going to get very interesting".
In other news, Bruin will be participating in the GALA choral festival in Miami from July 12th thru the 17th.

So what's been going on over in the Bear With Me world? Andy seems to have recuperated at 100% however after getting the 'Dear John' letter from Paul, he was seriously down in the dumps. However, watch Andy as his 'Bearifies' himself in this issue... I believe this is the 1st time we actually see one of the characters morph from human to Bear... and now that he's 'Bearified' himself (I like the word), he's off to find Paul. Stay tuned.
'Bear With Me' is a cartoon drawn by artist Bruin (TubeBear profile - articles). Bruin has been recently interviewed by the Bearotic (profile) site - see the interview here.
