The island of Montreal is going to see its very 1st Mr. Bear contest (or it's the very 1st one that I have heard of). It is going to take place at the Woof Bistro on Ste Catherine street on August 30th.

Woof Bistro is a brand new bar/resto which opened its doors on June 20th (article) to fine food and whatever you fancy to drink. And if you haven't been to the Gay Village in Montreal this year, well they did something great by closing off a huge chunk of Ste Catherine for pedestrians only, and Woof Bistro has a great terrace for those who enjoy fresh air while looking Bearishly sexy.

So, if you think you have what it takes to be the very first Monsieur Bear Montréal, then make sure to drop by the Woof Bistro, and if you have any questions or comments, contact the cute and cuddly owner Paul (profile).

Our ad is part of our Google campaign. We're really been working quite hard in getting TubeBear to becoming the #1 Bear site. And the whole point of this ad is to make you cute guys aware of our incredible features, such as RIMs (Recorded Instant Messages) - instead of typing messages like you do with all the other Bear sites, here you can use your webcam and you can send a video message... which is, I would say, 10 to the power of 'n' more fun than an old typed message (to learn how to RIM, visit my profile page - Forrest - and from my list of videos, check out 'How to RIM').

Our next commercial will be able LiveStreaming. We are having our first LiveStreaming party on Monday August 25th (article) so make sure to be here armed with your webcam. We are hoping to see as many people login as possible. It should be a lot of fun.

Following their 6th Prime Cuts edition (article), BEEF magazine (website - profile) has published their 38th issue for August and September (cover).

In it you will find your usual slew of good looking Bears, a variety of adult fiction as well as a few comics. You can pick up a copy at your local adult store and you can also subscribe online via their site.

Once again, put on your space boots and take a flight with the hot cartooned gang that make up Bear Degeneration. This time artist Perdido (website - profile) and I (Forrest - profile) have translated episode #9. In the last episode, we left corporal Slutton to deal with Reverend Beef and his fanatics, and now we follow Doctor Puzuk as he transports onto a strange planet that forks its inhabitants...

This cartoon is more than great, and Perdido has already done 17 issues which you can see on his Blog however they are all in Italian, and we are working hard on translating them to English. The only setback is that we have not put all of the English episodes onto one page, so you're gonna have to do a bit of digging to get caught up, but I did my best to make it easy as possible to follow this most excellent adventure. If you've never heard about it before, then start from the beginning - episode #1 - episode #2 - episode #3 - episode #4 - episode #5 - episode #6 - episode #7 - episode #8 - and for today's update - episode #9.

I have mentioned this site before but it definitely is worth mentioning once again. It's called Bearotic (profile) and it's one of the best new Bear sites online. It's a blog with a big Bear heart, a site that is updated on regular basis with great articles and plenty of Bearish videos like this one.

August 25th - LiveStream Party on TubeBear.

You have to make sure to join us on August 25th... that's a Monday... circle it on your calendar, use a sticky from your notepad... make a note that TubeBear is going to be having a 'LiveStreaming' party and everyone is invited.

TubeBear is the coolest Bear site around because we offer live cam feeds. It's the easiest thing to do - just make sure your cam is hooked up, click allow, and you are streaming. You can chat with others as well (we are, however, working on the feedback issues, so if anyone is good with this sort of thing, please let us know).

The whole point is to have cute guys watch you as you cam. They can send you messages, either IMs (Instant Messages) or RIMs (Recorded Instant Messages). RIMs is also another feature you will not find on any other Bear site; instead of typing your messages as you do on every other profile page, just turn on your cam, sit up straight, smile and talk away.

All you need to do is join TubeBear, then click on the Broadcast link. You will see 2 boxes - the top is to LiveStream and the bottom one is to send RIMS. Great news from Italy, photographer GianOrso has updated his website once again. He was also gracious enough to send in a few photos for us, so check them out here. GianOrso is truly one of the nicest guys in the universe, and his photography is inspiring and impeccable. He has, in the past, sent us pics from time to time, so check out some of the articles that have been written about him here. Visit his Flickr page as well as his profile on TubeBear.

There's a new search engine, built by ex-Google workers. It's called Cuil (pronounced Cool). From this CNN article: "For starters, Cuil's search index spans 120 billion webpages... at least three times the size of Google's index, although there is no way to know for certain. Google stopped publicly quantifying its index's breadth nearly three years ago when the catalog spanned 8.2 billion webpages.

Cuil's results will be presented in a more magazine-like format instead of just a vertical stack of Web links. Cuil's results are displayed with more photos spread horizontally across the page and include sidebars that can be clicked on to learn more about topics related to the original search request".

So of course I went to check it out. I tried 'Gay Bear'. TubeBear showed up but with a picture of Marilyn Manson (?). Then BearWWW showed up with a 'TubeBear Profiles' picture accompanying it (??)... also the 'TubeBear Profiles' picture showed up with alongside many other search results. Very odd indeed.

I tried a couple of more searches. It was slow to process and some of the images came back broken. They just opened up the site today so I gather they are ironing out the bugs. It 'look's cool, but will Cuil be able to even put a small dent in Google's monopoly...? It remains to be seen.

In this photo set, you get to see Ben in a snazzy suit. He's on a business trip and he's now retiring back in his hotel room after a long day of work. He is just about to get undress and put on some leather so as to hit the evening Montreal scene when he decides to quickly login to TubeBear to see if he has any messages. He has one from Frank (galleries - profile), which he checks out. It's one of Frank dancing to some disco. He then gets another message from Forrest (profile), and he chats with him a bit, all the while getting undressed.

Issue #37 of Beef Mag (website - cover) is out and available for you all. It's their June/July issue so it's a bit late however their editor Scott McGillivray (website - articles - profile) states in his 'editor's notes' that due to the production of 'Prime Cuts VI' (article) ~ their Anniversary Collector's edition ~ that it took them a bit longer to get out their summer issue.

No matter, it's out, and as usual they have their slew of good looking models... and if you flip the pages over to page 48 thru 54, you will see a feature on photos of Bearish men that I took ~ they called it the 'The Sexy Beasts of PlanetBears'.

Cartoonist Bruin (articles - profile) is back from the GALA that was in Miami, and he told me that his chorus Perfect Harmony rocked. He is now back and has updated Bear With Me, and we're now following the adventures of Paul.

From Bruin: "Paul is back home with his brother and father, but the welcome is a mixed bag: He's immediately slugged on the shoulder by his brother, and gets a less-than-supportive reaction from his father when asked about his flower shop. It's becoming clear why Paul has self-esteem issues".

The latest issue of BearParty Mag is out (website - articles - profile). It is their summer edition (from July to September). On June 17th '08, Scott was married to Gregory Bessmer, his partner since 1996, in Riverside, CA. Wouldn't it be exciting to publish a social registry, to commemorate the furry nuptials being celebrated by Bears all over the world? Let’s all join together to wish the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness together. Woof!".

At the beginning of July, ChubTickler was our featured TubeBear profile (article - ChubTickler's profile - prior featured profiles). Actually, the ChubTickler profile consisted of 2 gents - Duane and Lee. Duane is the elder Daddy Bear and Lee was the more leaner chaser one in their relationship. Unfortunately, Lee has recently passed away, and his partner Duane asked to keep his profile up in memory of Lee.

I've mentioned all that before. The new news is that Duane wants to put together a tickle file. From Duane: "I am in the process of putting together a file on my computer in honour of my Lee, who passed from this world last month, as I'm sure at least some of you know. This file will contain not only pictures of my late husband, but pictures of his friends as well as video clips of them being tickled, as Lee had a tickle fetish. I think it only proper to honour my baby in this way. He so loved tying and tickling his friends (he barely ever got the chance to do this)".

What Duane is considering is this: all those who send him something - may it be pics or videos - they will have access to this file. In other words, contribute and you get to view the contents. What we will do is we will place this file on BearFoot and those who do participate will be given access to the file. If you're interested, contact Duane either via his profile or by email.

We added 3 new galleries to BearFoot. You can see them here (they are entitled 'Bakin' 'n Restin'' - 'On The Dock' and 'Muddy Beach'). Now the only way to see these galleries is you need to have a PlanetBears membership. BearFoot is not open yet and only PlanetBears members can see the gallery section. We are still working on BearFoot and we're hoping to have it open soon.

Here's someone who's got all the right ingredients to being a Daddy Bear; he's good looking, debonair, he's thoughtful, has a nice sense of humour about him, witty while intelligent, modern while paying attention to traditional ways. These pictures were taken back in January '07. Now there's the long version as to why I never added these pics and there's also the short version. So here's the mid-length version: I met Roger (website - gallery - profile) just shortly after taking these photos, and when you meet the man of your dreams, everything else is placed on the shelf. I was also working on a Valentine's themed movie (it was January and I had a couple of weeks to work on it), and Richard's in it as well as Jacques aka PandaMontreal (website - gallery - profile) and Friedrich (gallery)... I have all the film for it, it's just a question of editing it... anyhow, that got shelved as well.

Fast forward to today and I'm re-discovering all this material I have, so I'm trying to add as much of it as possible, all the while working on some newer material.

Chubs in Paradise is around the corner and today is I believe the last day you can get tickets to their event. This is taking place from July 17th thru the 19th in beautiful Fort Lauderdale, FL. Check out who's going and see pics taken from this event last year.

Project Big is one of the sponsors and BearBob1952 (profile) has informed me that they will be putting on a fashion show at the pool party. Now since this is a clothing optional pool party, the models will actually be putting their clothes on instead of taking them off. It's a new concept to catwalking the runway.

Monday signifies Bear With Me updates, and in this episode, with Mo's help, Andy has pinpointed where Paul is, however Andy needs to understand why Paul has left, so he chats with Mo a little, asking her if his social status could be the reason why Paul left ('am I a snob', he asks her). Mo says definitely not... and with a little deduction, Andy realizes why Paul has left.

From Bruin (profile - articles), the cartoonist: "As Andy and Mo mull over the reasons Paul left, the penny finally drops, and Andy comes up with a name. It seems he's on the right track, but what will come of it? I have the feeling things are going to get very interesting".
