The following was sent in by Eric Crow (email) who is making a call for artists and writers:
This year at IBR the 13th we are proud to present 'Ursology', a new literary and artistic event.
In the tradition of past IBR artistic series, Ursology will produce a program of Bear writers and Bear artists at this year's Rendezvous. The objective is to create a new space of creative freedom for all artists of all levels.
This first event will feature people such as author Les Wright, famed writer of 'The Bear Book' (I & II). We will also feature those whose chosen medium is charcoal, paint or ink. Our first artist on-board here is longtime Bear community member Ali Lopez (who is also our current Int'l. Mr. Daddy Bear), who will display select drawings and will also be available to discuss his art with you. Eventually, we will feature as many media as possible, including music and sculpting, for example, and we will work throughout the year to create a handsome collection of art that is
so typical to our community.
This is our first call for authors and artists. Here is the criteria for submissions:
Literary media - Writers must have been published at least once in the last ten years, that is specifically Bear-related, and must be able to provide proof of publication (copyright, patent, trademark registration, etc., all accepted.), and we will also consider those who self-publish.
Canvas media - any art that is more than one year old, that is specifically Bear-related, complete with description.
In either case, it is advisable but not necessary that the artist be present for discussion of their artwork.
Please submit all contribution inquiries by email by Saturday, January 20th, 2007. Then, if you are selected, you will receive a specification document that you will need to return by Friday, February 1st, 2007.
Thank you,
Eric Crow
