It seems she's done everything right, so why hasn't Andy turned out the way she expected?  What are the influences in Andy's life that Constance can't anticipate or control?

Like most parents, Constance is asking the wrong question.  It's not 'What did I do wrong?', but rather 'Is my child a good person?'.  Andy could easily have become an elitist snob like his mother, but is instead directing his fortune and energies to bettering the LGBT community where he lives. The fact that he's found love in the process is an unexpected bonus.
